Laptop problems? I just bought a laptop to start a new job. The company does not want us using laptops. They said sometimes there is problems wiht the dvd software working with the laptops, that there are drivers missing or problems. This doesnt make sense to me. Is it true some dvd software will not work on a laptop. I had to meet teh specs for processor speed, ram etc. I am not sure if they are just saying this to discourage laptop use as they have headaches trying to support it. I will be using it to work from home and i have 2 desktops and dont want 3. At least with a laptop I can use it other than work for portability. Have any of you heard about private company software that does not work with laptops. I thought a dvd drive is the same kind of drive as a desktop. I also just posted my first question regarding if i should use the acer i bought or exchange today for a toshiba. Last day I have to decide.

Can anyone help with my laptop keyboard problems? My dell laptop is fairly new (less than two years), but for a while it's had some very annoying keyboard problems. Pressing the L key is like pressing the F11 key, so in internet exploerer it goes in/out of full screen everytime I type an L. If I type a captial 'o' it pastes whatever was in my clipboard, and if I press I (I think it's I) it takes the computer in/out of overwrite mode. Extermely annoying in MS Word when I'm working on something. I haven't spilled anything on the keyboard, and all the keys work, just with the annoying 'side effects'. There was about two days when it suddenly started working perfectly, but since the problem has returned. Does anyone know what's wrong or how to fix it? Thanks so much.

How come my laptop has such severe overheating problems? I have a Toshiba Satellite A215 laptop. It overheats very quickly however, my laptop does not shut down. We just bought a new laptop and are having wireless problems...? Wireless works great when only one laptop is running. Try and run 2 wireless laptops and problems start. Any one have problems with Toshiba laptop after reformating? I reformated my toshiba. I did not have the orginal recovery disk, so I did it by pressing zero when i load up the computer. It formated okay went back to orignal settings. The problem is when i started to download some of my programs ( MSN, Yahoo messenger, Office 2007, etc) its started freezing up on me. Problems with Digital Camera connecting to Laptop? I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ1 that has been working perfectly for two years. I've had no problems uploading photos etc until now. Whenever I connect to my Macbook, the camera doesn't connect, so I can't get the photos off my camera. An error message is not shown, nothing happens. The same happens when I plug it into my dad's Acer laptop, so I know it's not my computer. Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Would it contain toxins and carcinogens that would be harmful, even during brief exposure? Would it be expected to result in things like sinus pressure, headaches, fatigue, nasal discharge, etc.? I don't know if this makes any difference, but the laptop battery which caused the explosion was a lithium battery.

Problems with new laptop and Microsoft Vista? I just purchased a new laptop and just recently a problem has popped up. When I click on a link that opens up a new window everything is fine until I attempt to close the new window. When I close the new window to go back to what I was previously working on both the new window and old window close out and I have to start over by reopening my browser. I have an old laptop with starting problems what to do ? Every time I start my laptop it turns on,starts the window xp logo, then a popup window comes up stating . An invalid parameter was passed to service or function. How do I fix these laptop screen problems? I have a Dell M70 with Windows XP. Everytime I close the lid of the computer (which is set to "Do Nothing"), when I reopen the lid, all of my windows get shrunk (not minimized) into tiny boxes and left side Ctrl button doesn't work. In addition, whenever I go into Word or Firefox, it keeps reducing the size of the text and when I try to put it back to normal, it keeps decreasing. It's just as though someone's holding down Ctrl and - buttons (shortcut for zooming out or shrinking).

Does anyone have an HP Pavillion laptop that has had wireless internet problems? I bought a new HP laptop in April and my wireless driver stopped working this week. so i have an old T40 laptop that has problems with internet? i have to use my dads old laptop, but i had so much junk i decided to clean it up and put a new windows xp on it. When i did though, the internet didnt work so i downloaded the ethernet controller that came in the package labeled PRO2KXP.exe. And while the driver for the internet works the inbuilt wireless still doesnt, got any tips?

Problems connecting my laptop my wireless network? I had previously managed to successfully connect my laptop to the wireless network on my main computer so I know that the connection worked. However, a couple of days ago, the connection just cut out and the wireless Network Adapter on my laptop wont connect to the network. My laptop recognises the signal and it shows the signal strength to be excellent so I know that the laptop can pick up the signal from the router. In fact it repeatedly tells me that it can detect the network and it shows up in the list but when I try to connect, it says 'Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks and try again' The actual router shows up as working fine as well so I dont think its a problem with the main PC. Do I need to reinstall software, enter the right codes or just kick it? By the way, I followed Blndchick's advice and I uninstalled the wireless adapter. It restarted and now it wont even log on so I suppose it doesn't matter anymore as the whole laptop has broken. Nevermind. Fixed it.

Lenovo laptop problems had to send in laptop 4 times to depot to be fixed what do you suggest me doing now? I bought my lenovo laptop about 4 month ago and I have had to send it in for repairs 4 times within this time period and had to spend hours and hours talking to the customer service reprentatives. I have only had the laptop in my possesion for maybe a month and a half out of the 4 months. I have talked to the managers too without any resolution. What do you guys suggest me doing?

Has anybody with a Toshiba Laptop had problems with the top case cracking next to the hinge points ? My laptop is 10 months old and the case (behind the screen)has cracked at the hinge positions. It is only used at home and has not had any abuse !. if anyone else has had this problem was it repaired under warranty without any hastle. I intend to contact Toshiba next week.

Can I uninstall Windows Vista and install Windows XP instead on my new laptop without any problems? Windows Vista seems slower with all the security add ons. I like Windows XP instead. So if I uninstall Vista will it cause problems on my new laptop? I suppose I could add more memory but I still like Windows XP better.

Dell laptop display problems. Can it be fixed? I have an older Dell laptop computer. It still works well except for the display. Sometimes(most times) the display is completely unreadable. It looks like it is out of vertical synch. What I mean is that instead of displaying properly, display is simply a bunch of vertical lines. Colors are also unstable. Sometimes I can get it to display properly, but usually no. I suspect a problem with cables/ connections because it seems to be affected by screen angle/movement. I want to know if anyone else has experienced similar problems and can it be repaired?
