Laptop Monitor Problems? I'm having an odd issue with the monitor on my laptop. About one third of the right side of the monitor suddenly started displaying very thin horizontal red lines, but these disappeared if I wiggled the monitor just a little bit. Now, two days later, the problem has become worse, The same side of the screen is jumping, like the refresh rate of the image is extremely slow, and is slowly fading from the displayed image, to red lines, to almost nothing, then back to the proper image again. The only thing that helps is constant, light pressure to the upper right corner of the monitor. Any help anyone can give is greatly appreciated. By the way, the laptop is an Acer Aspire 2020, if that has any bearing on the issue. Thanks!

Laptop problems, Monitor? My laptop monitor won't turn on, the processor is running, and everything seems like it works correctly, even though the monitor is on, I have tried to hook up an external monitor, but I think I need to be able to see the screen for it to work. Any suggestions to get my monitor to work? Any details needed? The FN button thing doesn't work, we've tried it in a couple of times already When I turn the computer on it makes 3 long beeps. I tried the f8 and f2 and esc ideas, but nothing appeared on the monitor... is there anything else I can do?

Laptop monitor problems when VGA is plugged in.? When I plug a VGA cord into my laptop to connect with the tv, the screen turns off and it won't come back on. laptop monitor resolution problems? i have an hp pavilion 9000 series laptop and i tried to play a dvd but it said i needed to lower my resolution to watch it. i tried to lower it and after i hit "apply" in display settings, the screen went blank, almost like its turned off (i thought this was normal because on my CRT monitor its done that before). but after a few minutes, the black stayed. so i restarted the computer in normal mode and i can see the desktop loading up for a brief second and then the screen turns black again. i rebooted again, this time in safe mode, i go to display settings to change the resolution, but whenever i try to change and hit apply or ok, nothing happens. how can i resolve this problem???

Laptop Monitor Problem! Monitor only lights up when opened 30 degrees? My laptop monitor only lights up when I open it 30 degrees, past this point it goes completley black with no image at all! Does anyone have a liost of problems that could cause this, so I can do further research?? I only klnow about the inverter and bulb light, but they dont seem to match my problem because I do not see any image at all after I open the laptop monitor 30 degrees and beyond.

Monitor problems with a laptop? I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop, which has decided bothering to put anything on the screen when I boot it up is just too much trouble. It has done this before, but the problem was solved by unplugging my Waccom tablet. Apparently, the drivers for the tablet were messing something up. However, that's not working this time. I've tried unplugging everything else but I still just get a black screen when I try to boot it up. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions of what might be wrong? Thanks!

External Monitor Problems for My laptop? I recently bought a Dell Latitude E6500 Laptop. It came with Vista installed on it, so I downgraded to Windows XP. I Downloaded and Installed on the nessacry drivers for the laptop. Everything is working great, except for when I try to use my external monitor on it. The monitor is brand new, and works fine on a different laptop so I know that the problem is the laptop. I have installed the only video driver that will install off of dells website, along with chipset drivers, network driver, and etc. But the external monitor goes into Power save mode everything I plug it into the laptop. I hook it up through DVI. Any suggestions? I actually have pressed the Fn F8 key and all it does is flicker. It flickers as if it wants to go over to the external monitor but then it doesnt.

My laptop monitor has a black line in the center and messed pixels. HELP? I have a dell inspiron 6400. When I turned it on today a vertical black line ran from the top to the bottom on the monitor. Problems when enabling my second monitor on Laptop? When i go to display properties and settings and enable my second monitor and check the box to exend windows into it and click ok, it does not stay enabled. I can only run windows on one monitor, not both. Can't figure how to get both up... when using the f funtion keys it only swithes from one to the other.. never both. However when i start up both run simultaneously until i am prompted for password... Monitor Problems on laptop - green,blue, and red colors all over the place due ton sun exposure! i need help? on last night my brother took my laptop out side for an hour and now whenever i move the screen on there a bunch of red,green and blue colors flash all over the place. i contacted HP and they said that my warrenty was good and they'd provide free shipping to them for fedex to come to my houes and pick it up and they'll repair it for free but if they think it's accidental damage i have to pay for it. this issue is MINOR but can be ANNOYING. computer monitor turns black while laptop is still running? Hi, I recently got this problem where my laptop monitor turns black at random times. The laptop is still running while this is happening and it wont turn back once it turned black. I have to reboot it and hope for it not to go dark again. When it is dark, I can tilt my laptop up and see that it is running. I think this has something to do with the defect in lighting or something. Does anyone know what is wrong?

My laptop monitor blacks out when charger is plugged in or unplugged.? How do you know if it is really a monitor problem? My toshiba laptop had some problems with the screen (it wouldnt work at all) so i take it to a toshiba certified service center, where the technician tells me they need to replace it with a brand new one, costing me about $800. I ask him for the exact cost details about the monitor but he refuses to tell me and explains that the $800 is the total cost including repair service costs, but they cannot explain further because the financial details should be hidden since it's a part of their policy bla bla.. I do feel that something fishy could be possibly going on. How should i know if he is fooling me or not? Is there ways i can trap him with some specific questions i'd ask?

Having problems hooking up a laptop to an external monitor.? I am trying to hook up my dell inspiron 9100 laptop to an external monitor. I've downloaded all the drivers, and I have the correct port, but when I connect my laptop with the monitor and press "Fn" "F8" the resolution on my laptop jumps to the lowest resolution and nothing shows up on the external monitor. I have no idea why and neither does Dell, no surprise there. Any ideas?

I tried unplugging my s-video cable and restarting again, and that didn't work. I used the F2 monitor switch button and that didn't work. Any ideas? Satellite Toshiba laptop monitor is not working? My Toshiba Satellite laptop suddenly stopped working. The computer itself turns on but the monitor does not. It's completely blank. I have tried several times turning it on and waiting but it doesn't load or do anything at all. The computer registers when it is being charged but I think the problem is with the monitor. I took it to a computer help center that is on my college campus but the guy who helped me thought it had something to do with the hard drive and told me to contact Toshiba. How can I make a flat monitor connected to my laptop produce the same color and show my laptop desktop items? I connected a flat screen, an MPC monitor, to my laptop and the problem is that flat screen shows a greenish color and does not show my laptop desktop items but only the background picture. My Toshiba Laptop (Satellite L305-SS883) is having monitor problems.? The Laptop is on, I can tell because of the sounds it makes, but the screen only shows black. It's under a year old, and I've dropped it several times in the past, but when this problem occurred, I hadn't dropped it at all. Once again, when I press the power button, it comes on but the screen just remains black, no flickering, or solid white color, or anything. How to fix software problems of a laptop? I have a toshiba sattellite laptop. It has a problem where the screen goes dark after like 5 mins tops of use. I thought it was a hardware problem with the lcd screen, but when i hooked it up to an outside monitor the problem still occured so its a software problem. any suggestions? i've tried system restore many times to no avail. would disk clean up or disk defragmentor work to help this?

Every few days the monitor on my laptop goes really dark on startup? Not sure what the problem is. It's not a burned bulb, because when it does work, it works fine, i.e. it's not dark all the time. But every few days when I try to boot up, the screen is very dark (I can see the Windows images very faintly) and I have to plug in an external monitor. That usually seems to fix the problem, and the laptop monitor usually starts working again for a few more days. The problem never happens in the middle of a session, only when I boot up the computer for the first time. If this is a bulb problem, wouldn't I notice gradual fading of the brightness? Right now, it's either completely bright or completely dark.

Laptop Monitor Problem... Please Help me!!? When i boot my laptop up the backlight comes on but displays nothing. After about 20+ reboots it finally displays something. It is booting windows because i can hear the login screen sound. I recently formatted before this problem occured. I am using GPU drivers that i have used prior to this reinstall of windows and never had a problem with. If anyone has any kind of answer to whats going on it would be much appreciated........ btw the laptop is a TOSHIBA x205-sli1 also i would like to add that the problem did not start occuring untill a week after the new OS install and 20+ boots later.

My DGM 19'' Widescreen monitor has worked great, and when i connect it to the XBOX 360 it still works great, so i know this isnt a problem with the monitor itself. When I connect my laptop to a monitor, the monitor desktop scrolls up and down. How do I fix it? My laptop has a wide screen and I am trying to connect it a 19inch monitor. Why does my laptop screen deteriorate? I have a 'Tiny' (who went bust!) laptop from new. Its a AMD Athlon 64 prosessor 3000+, with 1GB of RAM. Running XP SP 2. Recently my screen keeps deteriorating to different degrees, but still at times running as new. The screen image seems to goto a low resolution (at different degrees), with some colours flickering. I've checked the pictures on other PCs and they're ok, also I've plugged the laptop into another monitor and the image is fine. It sounds like the laptop monitor is the problem, I tried to take the laptop completely apart, but couldn't. Also the hard drive takes ages to start windows completely (tried defrag), so not sure if thats related. Any ideas?

So i go buy on of ebay and install it right away. . .
